HIKING

Slovak Paradise is an area of exceptional natural beauty, and of rare flora and fauna. An area app. 50 km from Poprad, with a rich historical and folk artistic heritage, as well as a distinctive folklore and architecture and truly unique natural feature Pieninsky National Park offers rafting down Dunajec border river with Poland.
CAVES
Slovakia has 12 caves opened for public and accessible by car or by bus. The most interesting and most valuable are Aragonite cave in Ochtina with unique star aragonite decoration, Ice cave in Dobšiná and cave complex in Demänová valley considered to be one of the most beautiful in Europe.
HISTORY
Poprad surrounding is rich in historical monuments. Medieval historical town Kežmarok is famous for Old Wooden Evangelical Church , town castle, renaissance castle built in 1570, a museum, gallery and restaurant in Strážky, burgher’s houses Royal-free town Levoča with Church of St James with the largest wooden altar in the world, beautiful town hall built in renaissance style, Marian hill - place of annual pilgrimage with two Catholic churches and nearby the most extensive Spiš castle in Central Europe dated back to the 11th century, and inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage list, is the most beautiful medieval towns in Slovakia. Spišská Nová Ves leaving point to Slovak Paradise National park, with for mining and metallurgical history, known also for the highest church tower in Slovakia or even in the Central Europe (87m). Town has the longest lens-shaped centre in the Central Europe. Stará Ľubovňa castle with adjacent ancestral village is another tourist regional attraction.
North-eastern Slovakia is famous for group of valuable wooden churches of the eastern rite dated back to 17th and 18th century. They are protected as national cultural monuments. Through the Gothic route you get to know a very rich treasure of cultural and historical sights of Spiš and Gemer. It is the first tourist route of that kind not only in this region, but in the whole Slovakia that documents the culture of 33 towns. The tourist route is a circle 276 km long.
